Different Paths, One Shared Goal

Over the past year, many of you have seen protests and demonstrations taking place outside research facilities. With another event scheduled, we wanted to take a moment to clarify the position of The Beagle Alliance.

The Beagle Alliance has not participated in protests in the past, nor will we be participating in marches or demonstrations in the future. We recognize that everyone involved in animal advocacy has a different role to play, and we respect the individuals and organizations that have chosen a path that they believe is right for them. We are not here to judge how others advocate for change.

As an organization, we have chosen a different approach.

Because many of the laws in both Canada and the United States currently permit the use of animals in research, we believe the greatest opportunity for meaningful and lasting change lies in addressing the root of the issue. That means advocating for stronger legislation, encouraging greater transparency, ensuring existing laws are enforced, and working alongside the people who have the power to influence the future of animal research.

Our mission has always been built upon collaboration. We work with research facilities, policymakers, scientists, regulatory agencies, and partner organizations to secure the release of animals and help them transition from lives in laboratories to lives filled with love, comfort, and security.

Change is rarely a straight road. Sometimes it looks like legislation. Sometimes it looks like education. Sometimes it looks like a frightened beagle taking their first steps on grass, discovering toys for the first time, or curling up beside a family that has been waiting for them all along.

We believe that where the system allows is where the system must change.

Thank you for standing beside us, following our journey, sharing our stories, and helping us spread awareness. Much of our work involves educating people about the reality that animal testing continues to occur throughout Canada and the United States and that thousands of dogs are still being used in research. The passion and joy behind that work is seeing them all go from LAB to LOVE!

We believe there is hope.

And we will continue working every day to make that possible.
