Uno, one of over 4,000 beagles released from Envigo RMS in 2022 after a DOJ lawsuit, quickly became an ambassador for former research dogs. Uno, thriving at Kindness Ranch Animal Sanctuary, now visits the U.S. Capitol, meeting politicians for discussions about alternatives to animal testing and for legislation like Violet’s Law.
He also features in the documentary “The New Gold Standard,” which highlights scientific alternatives to animal research. Kindness Ranch demonstrates that these animals can be rehabilitated and adopted, proving a viable path for former lab animals and influencing a shift in medical research practices. Uno’s story brings awareness to the ethical concerns and the potential for a future with less animal testing.
