EVENT DATE: Tuesday, June 30, 2026 – 7:30pm – 9:00pm (CT)

Ridglan Event June 2026

The Beagle Alliance believes strongly in the power of community and in being able to have you join in on powerful conversations. We offer all of these Events for FREE, however should you like to donate a small gift towards these efforts, we would be so grateful. THANK YOU!

There is something beautiful about watching a dog step out of a life of research and into a life of freedom.

But behind every former research dog who finds their way home, there is something equally important: the people and organizations who open their hearts, homes, and lives to make that journey possible.

That is why we are bringing our community together once again, FOR THE DOGS.

First, thank you to everyone who attended and showed interest in our very first evening for adopters, fosters, and organizations caring for beagles released from Ridglan Farms. It was an incredibly special event where we answered questions, shared experiences, and did our best to prepare families for what to expect when welcoming a former research beagle into their lives.

The evening was so well attended that we simply could not connect with everyone who wanted to participate. Since then, we have received numerous inquiries from people who were unable to attend, as well as requests from many attendees who would like to join us again for further discussion and support.

Hosted by Lori Cohen of The Beagle Alliance, John Raymer of Kindness Ranch, and Chelsea Marino of Keeper and Kin, this additional evening is designed for anyone fostering, adopting or considering welcoming a former research dog from Ridglan Farms into their home, as well as the organizations helping make these placements possible.

Over the past weeks, we have heard your questions. We have heard your concerns. We have heard your struggles.

Some dogs are more fearful than expected. Some are more shut down. Some are taking longer to adjust. Some have tested every ounce of patience their families possess.

And that is okay.

We know that so many people begin this journey with the best intentions and sometimes find themselves wondering:

“What if I’m doing this wrong?”

“Why is my dog afraid of everything?”

“Will they ever trust me?”

“Is this normal?”

“Is it okay if I just want to foster?”

More often than not, the answer is yes.

And perhaps even more importantly, you are not alone.

SAFETY FIRST: We have been made aware that some of the beagles have escaped and that there are active searches going on. THIS IS ONE IF THE VERY LAST THINGS WE EVER WANT TO SEE HAPPEN, because of the nature of the fear within these fearful dogs. We have the experience and skills to guard against this – and if this has already happened – we CAN help individuals and organizations with resources to help find dogs. THIS KIND OF SAFETY COMES FIRST – all else is secondary to your dog being in your home tucked in safely at night.

This evening will also focus on the questions and experiences coming directly from our community. We will discuss adjustment periods, other safety considerations, common behavioural challenges, realistic expectations, and the unique characteristics that make beagles both wonderful companions and determined foodies and escape artists.

Our goal is to help prevent unnecessary setbacks while giving families the confidence and tools they need to support these dogs successfully.

Together, Lori, John, and Chelsey have worked with hundreds of former research beagles as they transitioned from laboratories into loving homes. We have seen the challenges. We have celebrated the breakthroughs. And we have watched these dogs grow into the resilient, joyful beagles we know them to be.

When you register, we encourage you to submit your questions in advance. We will review all submissions and address the most important and commonly asked questions during the evening so that everyone can benefit from the collective experience of our community.

Whether this is your first time joining us or your second, we hope you will be part of the conversation.

Former research dogs need patient humans.

And those patient humans deserve support.

Most importantly, we want you to know this:

You do not have to figure this out by yourself.

There is an entire community standing beside you, caring not only about the dogs, but about you as well.

The Beagle Alliance believes strongly in the power of community and in being able to have you join in on powerful conversations. We offer all of these Events for FREE, however should you like to donate a small gift towards these efforts, we would be so grateful. THANK YOU!
