A Conversation About Dogs, Research & Advocacy
What a pleasure and an honour it was to sit down with Anitha and be part of the Kindness Is Everything Podcast.
And what an incredible name for a podcast. Because when it comes to animals, research, advocacy and the work we all do to make the world a better place, kindness really can be everything.
I had the opportunity to chat with Anitha about dogs and research, but our conversation went far beyond dogs. We talked about what brought me to this place in my life, why I founded The Beagle Alliance, and why I believe so strongly in the importance of dogs in creating meaningful change for all animals involved in research.
We talked about the complicated world of research, the people working within it, the animals at the centre of it, and the opportunities we have to find better ways forward.
And perhaps most importantly, we talked about collaboration, kindness and unity.
I believe we can accomplish far more when we stop looking for sides and start looking for solutions. Change doesn’t always have to come through confrontation. Sometimes it comes through a conversation, an open door, a willingness to listen and a shared commitment to doing better.
That philosophy is at the heart of The Beagle Alliance and our LAB to LOVE mission.
It is also at the heart of a brand-new podcast I am incredibly excited to be part of, alongside John Ramer, Executive Director of Kindness Ranch, and behavioural trainer Chelsey Marino of Keeper and Kin.
Yes, you guessed it. There are a few dog people involved.
Because there is so much more to talk about than dogs in research.
There are the people who care for them. The science. The ethics. Behaviour. Advocacy. Rescue. Rehabilitation. The challenges. The victories. And the sometimes surprising ways that people from very different backgrounds can come together when the goal is bigger than any one of us.
So grab a coffee, settle in and join Anitha and me for a conversation about more than just dogs in research.
Because kindness opens doors – to cages and laboratories.
xoxo,
~ Lori
