You won’t want to miss out!
Each of these beagles has a story—a story of resilience, and hope. This latest rescue sees 50 beagles in 2025 brought into loving homes alongside Kindness Ranch.
As soon as we arrived in London, Janet welcomed us into her beautiful home and yard. She made it feel like a celebration, even though we barely had energy to stand.
Our fosters arrived, one by one. Having never met their new furry friend before, but that didn’t matter. Taking a dog “sight unseen” is brave—when that dog is a former research animal, it’s even braver.
Fosters are the heartbeat of this work. They’re the ones who do the hard stuff: cleaning up puddles, comforting anxious dogs on night one, and helping them adjust to life as loved family members.
It’s hard to talk about rescue work without talking about partnerships. This trip was possible because people showed up—some driving hours, some opening their wallets, and some just pouring love into the journey.
While on the road, we always wonder: will the press show up? After months—or years—of campaigning, you hope people want to hear about the good news stories. That’s why it was a little disappointing not to see reporters at the event, especially after the shocking expose about St. Joseph’s Healthcare London brought dogs in research into the headlines.
Usually, we get at least one outlet interested in telling the story—of how these dogs go from LAB to LOVE. Instead, the only cameras were our own phones, clicking away at the sight of potential and freedom. We don’t take these moments for granted and we live for the opportunity to share them on a grander scale.
A former research beagle’s story is one of transformation, gratitude and forgiveness. When you only cover one side of the story—the heartbreak of cruelty—it leads to despair. When you couple that story with the reality of rescue – and tell the whole story – it leads to action and offers hope.
Thousands of dogs are still waiting for the opportunity to live free from testing. The journey from LAB to LOVE doesn’t happen by accident—it takes media attention, community action, and rescue in action – it takes the village.
“We really wanted to honour the people who most recently have come together for former research animals, especially the beagles most recently – we wish we could include all of you. We think these dogs will carry your spirit and your energy!”
Lori Cohen, Founder & Executive Director of The Beagle Alliance.
Camille Labchuck: Champion for Animal Justice – most recently her role in publicizing the plight of dogs at St. Joseph’s Healthcare London, she sparked a movement that led to their release.

Barbara Cartwright & Humane Canada: Standing Behind Us – such a broad body of work for all animals – we are proud associates of Humane Canada.
London, Ontario: the people in London, Ontario rallied together for the dogs, creating collaboration and community.

John Ramer, along with Katie and the entire Kindness Ranch team and board: They put the kindness in Kindness Ranch trusting The Beagle Alliance is not just an honour, it has allowed us to lay a foundation in Canada that says theses dogs really can go from LAB TO LOVE!
It really does take the village and we wanted to honour a very few of the people who work so hard for the animals – we know there are so many more of you out there – and we THANK YOU!

Let’s use the power of that LOVE to help spread awareness about animals in research and change lives.
Please consider speaking with your MP about animal free science. These innovative methods have already proven to be more effective for humans, less expensive - and of course would save the lives of so many animals.
