U.S. tax-deductible donations issued by Global Giving.
The “Good Trouble in Canada” mission is underway and we’re headed to the U.S. to rescue ten former research beagles and bring them to Canada. The mission is named in memory of Lori’s late dog, Trouble, who was seen as “good trouble.” The intent is to place these beagles into loving homes and demonstrate their potential to live fulfilling lives outside laboratories.
The team is travelling to an undisclosed location in the U.S. to collaborate with partners and facilitate the beagles’ transport.
Beagles require experienced and patient fosters. They are active, curious, and need leashes when outside. A fenced yard and another dog are ideal to help integrate them into home life.
These dogs come from laboratory settings and need to learn basic behaviours and social interactions, such as playing with toys and navigating doors. It is ideal to place these survivors into homes with other dogs so they can learn how to be dogs. There’s only so much we humans can relay to them.
Lori highlights the high rate of “foster fails,” where foster caregivers end up adopting the dogs, as a positive outcome. When you just can’t give them up and need to adopt… that’s a foster fail 🙂
Despite the challenges involved, many successful adoption stories offer hope and inspiration to potential fosters.
Many thanks to Pet Value Reinders for their fundraising efforts to support the rescue. The funds raised will help purchase necessary transport crates for the beagles.
The campaign underscores the importance of community support, encouraging people to donate and spread awareness to end animal testing.
Submit foster applications and consider donating to support the rescue efforts.
By spreading awareness, the initiative aims to bring about change in the treatment of research animals across Canada.
