This year public concern for the plight of animals used in laboratories continued to be reflected in U.S. state legislation and one of the most popular issues considered was the adoption of animals previously used in laboratories. Fifteen states already have post-research adoption laws and this year, seven state bills were introduced on this issue.
While we await the completion of the (CCAC) Canadian Council on Animal Care’s draft in which re-homing eligible animals from Canadian testing facilities would be highly recommended, let’s look at what has already been done next door!
