What an incredible few days.
The Canadian premiere of The New Gold Standard was something we will not soon forget.
Thank you to everyone who came out and celebrated this incredible, game-changing film with us. A very special thank you to Janet and Frank. Because of the incredible generosity of the Eric S. Margolis Foundation, we have been blessed with the opportunity to see so many dogs go from LAB to LOVE. Their generosity reaches far beyond a donation. It changes lives.
Thank you, Steven Latham, for including The Beagle Alliance and our story in this brilliant and very important film.
Thank you to SPCA International, Animal Justice and Animal Alliance of Canada for helping promote the event – Bianca, Katie, Camille and Sarah helped make it happen. Thank you to Aldo and Victor from Cineplex for making the evening so special.
And our volunteers. Brenda, of course, Carla, Paige and Sarah.
Thank you, Andrew, for sharing our story on CP24.
And always, always, Kindness Ranch. You are our village.
Then came Sunday.
After the premiere, and another opportunity for us to speak for the fifth year at the Animal Justice Animal Law and Advocacy Conference…
Sunday afternoon, we gathered for something that, honestly, felt even more personal.
A Beagle reunion.
Almost one year to the day after we brought dogs into London, Ontario, we had the chance to see some of those same dogs again and meet the people who had opened their homes and their hearts to them.
We also got to see our first two dogs who came out of a Canadian facility and spend time with their incredible humans.
It was emotional. It was beautiful. And it was one of those days that reminds us exactly why we do this.
These dogs came from a place they never should have had to experience in the first place. They had to learn how to be dogs. They had to learn grass, couches, toys, stairs, cuddles and freedom.
And their families patiently taught them.
Watching them now, surrounded by people who care for them, protect them and love them, is something we will never take for granted.
This is not just rescue.
This is family.
And our family keeps growing.
We are so grateful for every person who plays a part in getting these animals from LAB to LOVE.
Because the animals need all of us.
And this village?
We’re pretty lucky to have it.
