The Beagle Alliance is both humbled and incredibly honoured to announce that we have received a $10,000 USD grant from SPCA International through its Shelter Support Fund, in support of our Great Canadian Rescue.

This is a particularly meaningful announcement for us, and one that deserves more than a simple thank-you.

First, we want to recognize the extraordinary work of SPCA International and the team behind it. Their commitment to advancing the safety and well-being of animals reaches far beyond borders. Through partnerships with shelters, rescue organizations and animal welfare groups around the world, SPCA International provides critical financial assistance, veterinary resources, emergency support and advocacy for animals who need a voice.

It is an incredible thing to be part of a community of organizations that understands that animal welfare doesn’t stop at geographical borders.

And now, that support is reaching Canada in a very meaningful way.

A First for Canada

The Great Canadian Rescue represents a significant milestone, not only for The Beagle Alliance but for the future of former research animals in Canada.

For the first time, we are working toward a huge release of dogs from a Canadian research facility, creating an opportunity for these dogs to leave their research environment and begin entirely new lives.

This is something we have worked toward since founding The Beagle Alliance. Making the transition from LAB to LOVE requires an enormous amount of coordination, resources and, of course, funding.

That’s where this incredible $10,000 USD grant makes such a difference.

The funding will help offset the substantial costs associated with bringing these dogs into homes, including transportation, veterinary care and the medical needs that accompany their transition into a new life.

For a foster-based Canadian rescue, this is significant support. It means more resources can go directly toward ensuring these dogs receive the care and attention they need as they make their journey into new found freedom.

More Than a Grant. A Shared Commitment.

At The Beagle Alliance, we often say that it takes a village to rescue a dog. But sometimes, it takes a global community to change what is possible for animals.

We recognize that SPCA International could direct its support toward countless worthy organizations and causes around the world. The fact that they have chosen to support our work, and specifically this Canadian initiative, is something we do not take lightly.

Their support also reinforces something we believe deeply: animal welfare organizations are stronger when we work together.

SPCA International’s work demonstrates what can happen when organizations invest not only in individual animals, but also in the people and organizations working on the ground to make a difference.

From the Bottom of Our Hearts, Thank You

To the entire SPCA International team, thank you. Personally from our Founder Lori Cohen, and a personal thank you to Lori, Owen, Katy and Haley…

Thank you for being a voice for animals who cannot speak for themselves. Thank you for supporting organizations around the world that are doing the difficult, often behind-the-scenes work of rescue. And thank you for believing in what we are building here in Canada.

Your generosity will help change the lives of dogs who have never known the experience of being someone’s beloved friend.

One day, these beagles will know what it means to curl up on a couch, go for a walk with their family, discover the joy of a backyard, and fall asleep knowing they are safe.

They will no longer be research dogs. They will simply be dogs, loved for exactly who they are.

SPCA International, your partnership means the world to us, and it will mean the world to these dogs.
