CCAC Animal Data Report 2024

Beagles Released to Foster Homes from Canadian Vet College

The Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC) Animal Data Report 2024 is now available – SEE BELOW.

This is a reporting mechanism and if in fact the numbers indicate an increase in reporting and transparency, that is a great thing.

Having said that, even though the overall number of dogs in 2024 was down from 2023, there are some concerning numbers – the use of cats actually went up.

There were 3,128,943 animals reportedly used in 2023 – and over 500,000 more used in 2024, at 3,706,907.

We have hope though and that hope comes from the incredible support received during the St. Joseph’s expose by Animal Justice.

As we predicted, our love for dogs brought a nation together, including Ontario Premier Doug Ford – and with that, the spotlight was shone on The Beagle Alliance – proving that these dogs can go on from LAB to LOVE!

We encourage you to listen to our presentation Dogs as the Gateway for Change in Canada at last year’s Canadian Animal Law Conference and please share this post.

2026 proves to be a year of revelation and change for animals in research in Canada. Hope you will stay along for the journey.
