Ending Invasive Testing on Dogs and Cats in Ontario

Airdrie yard becomes gateway to freedom for 14 rescued beagles

The Ontario government just announced that it will amend the Animals for Research Act and put an end to invasive testing on dogs and cats in research in Ontario.

This is a forward thinking and compassionate move – one that follows Premier Doug Ford’s statements earlier in the year condemning the use of dogs and cats in research.

Most people are unaware that the very animals we so love and live with are used in research facilities across this country and the very mention of harm to them, invokes sadness, anger, passion and the desire to help.

We are so grateful to the organizations who have spoken out and moved this bill forward with their voice and their work. It is our greatest hope that going forward, collaboration is the path towards change. We all have our role and the role of The Beagle Alliance, as the only rescue and advocacy organization solely dedicated to animals in research, is to rehabilitate and support the animals – and to life up and educate the very fosters and adopters who bring a former research dog into their home.

Please join us in thanking Premier Ford and asking him to consider The Beagle Alliance as the National Rescue for Animals in Research. We ask that in your own words you tell Premier Ford what your dog and cat means to you. As well, please go ahead and copy some key points about The Beagle Alliance that will ensure that animals released from facilities are cared for by reputable organizations.

  • Please consider The Beagle Alliance as the National Rescue for Animals in Research, as they are the only rescue and advocacy organization solely dedicated to animals in research and are experts in rehabilitation.
  • The Beagle Alliance has a 98% adoption rate and a thorough foster and adoption process.
  • The Beagle Alliance supports the animal and the foster – adopter through training and education, as well, 24/7 support.
  • The Beagle Alliance has placed over 140 former research dogs into loving homes since 2022.
  • The Beagle Alliance values collaboration and is a leader in rescue and advocacy activities within Canada and beyond.
